About
What it is
AAmist is a love letter to the original ideas behind early AA, with its own flair. It's a modded version of the game with one goal: go back to what made it good and build out from there. There's less of a gear gap and more variety in how you play, make gold and progress your character.
Crafting is a big part of the core loop. Gear wears out and gets replaced, so crafters, traders and gatherers always have work. The world is open, fast travel is limited, and daily quests and schedules don't tell you what to do.
Our focus is on guilds, PvE, character progression, collecting, exploration, roleplay and life skills. PvP and guild-versus-guild events have a place, but they aren't our main priority. East and West are allied, so you can play any race and form a guild with your friends. We want a slower pace that rewards playing rather than simply logging in.
What's different
Progression starts at level one, and your equipment matters as you level up. Equipment at both low and high levels has interesting stats, giving you different ways to build your character. We're reworking damage, gear scaling and many combat formulas, alongside changes to professions, housing, trade and fishing.
The game has hundreds of equipment assets that players can't currently wear. We're turning these into items so players can mix and match their own outfits. We're also using environmental assets to create new house designs and decor, giving players more options for decorating.
Houses, decor, costumes, gliders and mounts will be craftable or obtainable in game, rather than bought through the cash shop or handed out through login rewards or random reward boxes.
Mist will also have a custom trade system, rather than simply bringing back the old one.
Why
Since the official servers closed, many players have missed their connection with the game. It was a social hub and a virtual space to hang out, with a plot of land to decorate and make their own. Other servers exist, but we think Mist could be a home for players looking for something a little different.
Early AA was close to a sandbox. Trade runs meant something, land was worth fighting over, and gear came from crafters. It was a game with potential in so many directions.
Mist is our attempt to explore some of that potential. AA means different things to different players, and everyone has their own idea of what made it great. We're choosing a direction and focusing on it so we can build a better experience for the players who enjoy that kind of game. Mist won't be for everyone, and that's okay.
